the boy turns 10 months and we celebrate thanksgiving

our little man just turned 10 months old on sunday. i can't believe that he'll be 1 in just two short months. ahhh!!! it's going by too quickly. he eats everything, plays so well with other kids, loves going to child care at our gym, and is an overall joy. he's sleeping through the night, which has changed my life, is taking good naps, and is such a little man. daddy & i sure do love you, little man.

scott & i hosted our first thanksgiving. the boy was sick (slight fever, napping on and off all day, refusing food, runny nose... pretty sure he's teething) and thankfully my mom just held him all day. we watched football, ate a lot of food, and cleaned up the kitchen by 8pm! it looked like thanksgiving never happened at our house, and we were super excited about it. i'm so thankful that scott came into my life and that we have our adorable little boy, who has gone through so much to be here with us. last year we didn't know if we'd be celebrating the holidays with our son, and now that he's here and healthy it's the best gift of all. hope everyone had a happy thanksgiving!!

7 months old

today someone is 7 months old. i can't believe it! it feels like he just came home from the hospital and now, here we are, watching him play in his exersaucer and feeding him solid food. 7 month old griffin is tiny and we love it. he eats all the time and loves everything we give him. he's actually a pretty good and mellow baby, minus the screaming himself to sleep and waking up in the middle of the night. he says "dada" all the time, and loves to say "baba" and only says "mama" when he's screaming. he is learning to wave and is starting to say "hi". it's the cutest. he still doesn't sit up on his own, or crawl yet, but it'll come soon enough. we sure do love this little guy (but i'd love him a little more if he slept through the night)

6 month old Griffin

i think he kind of looks like joanna goddard's son, toby, in this picture.

6 month old Griffin loves to eat! he's eating avocado, squash, bananas, and apples. we're starting sweet potatoes tomorrow, and after that it'll be on to peas. at first i was sad that he's old enough to start eating (technically he's been old enough for almost two months, but i delayed it because of the gastroschisis. now i'm very happy that he's eating and growing up. oh, the perils of being a mom. i'm both sad and happy that he's growing up. i suppose that's never going to change. this child lights up our lives. scott & i love him so much. we get to have family snuggles every morning, since scott is always home in the mornings now (yay new job!), and it's the highlight of my day. i sure do love this little guy.

happy father's day

to the best dad in the world. this photo was taken when little griffin was just 3 days old, and it was our first time getting to hold him. we found out about griffles one year ago today, and he has been the most amazing gift. happy father's day, scott (one day late). we love you.

one year.

we've been through a lot in the past year. started dating, moved in together, got pregnant, found out about the baby's gastroschisis, left my job, bought a house, got engaged, had Griffin, made it through the NICU and now get to just enjoy raising our little guy. it's been quite a year.

happy anniversary, scott. i love you.

our weekend

scott hardly ever has saturdays or sundays off, so our weekend usually starts on a monday. this time we decided to have a little getaway sans baby. on sunday we went to Solage to stay the night. we had a great time. on sunday night we went to Press and had a great dinner. on monday we woke up, had a little room service breakfast on the patio, went on a bike ride and then hung out at the spa for the rest of the day before we went back home to baby. we had fun, but i definitely missed the little guy.

hanging out at the pool with the brightest pink drink i've ever seen

scott looking all cute before our dinner

i am now obsessed with these bikes

the bathhouse pool (it's geothermal... and was a beautiful 94 degrees)
i could have lived in there

laying out at the bathhouse

we're home!!
doesn't griffin kind of look like a turtle?

the next day we did our taxes and decided to spruce up the house a little bit. scott has been ripping out all our hedges and bushes and the flowers we don't like, and i wanted to update our house numbers and make the house look a little better. we went to home depot, put up paint swatches in the house and played in the yard a little.

i planted some succulents to hang out by our front door

and this little guy just hung out in his car seat with us while we were redoing everything. he's such a good little baby. we're so lucky.

it was a relaxing and productive weekend.

pumpkin picking

yesterday, scott & i went pumpkin & apple picking in sebastopol, then headed to graton for lunch. it was so much fun. the weather was perfect, and it's finally starting to feel like fall here.

wanted to compare my baby bump with the pumpkins...

look at all these shapes! it was amazing.

scott definitely took picking pumpkins out very seriously... he was all over the place looking for the perfect carving pumpkin. we also got fun shaped gourds just to put out on the porch.

i loved this place... the pumpkins were amazing.

after pumpkin picking we tasted a bunch of apples and then decided on 10lbs of jonathan apples for $10. it was a great deal... and now i have to figure out what to do with 10lbs of apples.

Us.

So, just a quick little background on me & Scott.

I met Scott in July 2009 on my first or second day of work at Calistoga Ranch. I was immediately drawn to him, and felt like there was a reason we were meeting. A few weeks into my super embarrassing crush I found out he wasn't single. Within a few months I wasn't single either, and Scott and I became friends. He used to call down to the Front Desk in the mornings before breakfast service started and just chat with me for 20-30 minutes (which is funny since he now can't handle spending more than 10 minutes on the phone at a time with me... he says it's because he was "courting" me then), stop by the Front when he'd check in at the pool bar, or stop by on his way out of work for the day. I saw him a lot, and definitely noticed when he wasn't there. I tried to pretend I didn't have a huge crush on him, and the girls I worked with definitely had some fun Facebook stalking him to find out anything about his life. I'd hear stories from Steff or Heather (the girls I worked with at the Front) about how he'd call down and ask them if I was working that day. I think he tried to pretend he didn't have a crush on me, too. I left the Ranch at the end of February and we finally got to hang out outside of work. On my birthday, March 1, he drove to Santa Rosa to hang out with me and get some drinks before meeting up with my friends. He brought me a cake, candles, and a bottle of champagne. It was really sweet. That started the beginning of our fairly often weeknight hangouts. Eventually we were both single and the rest is history. A few shorts months and a lot of life changes later, here we are...
