6 month old Griffin

6 month old Griffin loves to eat! he's eating avocado, squash, bananas, and apples. we're starting sweet potatoes tomorrow, and after that it'll be on to peas. at first i was sad that he's old enough to start eating (technically he's been old enough for almost two months, but i delayed it because of the gastroschisis. now i'm very happy that he's eating and growing up. oh, the perils of being a mom. i'm both sad and happy that he's growing up. i suppose that's never going to change. this child lights up our lives. scott & i love him so much. we get to have family snuggles every morning, since scott is always home in the mornings now (yay new job!), and it's the highlight of my day. i sure do love this little guy.

sister days

sometimes brianna and i get to hang out all day. and it's really, really fun. she's my twin sister, but she's also my best friend. i love hanging out with her. she's not as helpful as i thought she'd be with griffin (not like my wonderful friend, lauren, who will come over and watch him and offers to help me organize rooms in my house. i love her!), but she's still my sister and she loves her nephew. she just wants to look at him, versus holding him/changing him/feeding him. but brianna and i have a lot of fun together and it is lovely to hang out with her.

the other day we got to drive out to sonoma and enjoy the Fremont Diner. seriously, this place is amazing. it looks like a run down gas station, but it has the most delicious food. after that brianna and i dropped griffin off at my mom's house and we went to the giant's game! thanks, future hubby, for watching griffin after work and giving us your tickets! :)

the weekend of july 9th my wonderful friend veronica got married!! i was a bridesmaid, and it was a very fun day. my dad even watched griffin over night so scott & i wouldn't have to worry about bringing a baby to a wedding.

scott had a very good night.

the wedding was very fun, and i'm happy for veronica but i think i'm done with being in weddings (except for being the bride, of course). it's just a lot of work and money and i missed my little boy. it would've been a bit more fun just being a guest and getting to sit next to my fiance at dinner. also, i totally lost it and really started missing griffin before the night was over. i was convinced he wasn't sleeping for my dad and missed us. haha. ridiculousness

in other griffin news, he's eating solids!!

we started with avocado, and i'm so glad we did!

it's been so easy to take him to a restaurant, order a side of avocado and a demitasse spoon and feed the griff monster. but the other day at whole foods we discovered the best invention ever:

these packs are squeezable, griffin LOVES them, and they have zero clean up. i'm still making 90% of his food, but these are very handy. so far we've tried apples & bananas. success!!

lately

lately i've been a bad blogger, and a bad housewife. i never get anything done, i'm hardly on the computer so blogging definitely hasn't happened, and i'm just enjoying Griffin. it's been great to watch him get bigger. a lot has happened over the past few weeks that i wanted to share with the blogosphere.

for the 4th of july (seriously, it's been that long since i blogged), scott, griffin, and i went up to lake county and spent some time with our friends, the sheltons. we swam, barbecued, and watch fireworks. it was a lot of fun, and griffin loved swimming. it was so cute seeing him in the pool for the first time.

it was so nice to be around people with kids. we hung out with mary & zach, their two kids, mary's brother and sister in law, and their two kids. it was great! i loved every minute of it (except when 3am showed up and griffin decided not to sleep).
